Job description

Seasonal/PT Parks Maintenance Worker

Starting Wage: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour, based on experience.

Department: Public Works

Work Hours: Tuesday - Saturday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm

Status: Seasonal/Part-time

JOB SUMMARY

The individuals hired for these positions will be required to perform manual labor and general maintenance duties as follows: daily maintenance of flower, and shrub planter care, tree care, grounds maintenance picking up debris and litter, emptying various containers into trucks and receptacles, load, and dump landscaping materials. The employee will use hand and power tools and other equipment related to the park and grounds maintenance, pull weeds, plant flowers/trees, prune trees and shrubs, and assist in cleaning and maintaining tools and equipment.

The individual will regularly operate: Mower, Weed Whip, Edger, Sod Cutter and Compacter, etc.

Applicants must be able to respond to verbal and written assignments from the Sexton. The employee will be expected to assist other crew members as needed/directed and perform duties as deemed necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • All applicants must 18 years of age or older.
  • Must complete a pre-employment drug screen and FIT .
  • Applicants must have a valid Utah Driver's License and provide a copy of their driving record.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in ALL weather conditions.
  • Ability to perform duties in a professional manner with minimal oversight and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and the public.
  • Must be a self-motivated, open-minded problem solver that adapts readily to change.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Responsible for the maintenance of assigned tools and equipment. Tasks require walking, standing, sitting, reaching, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs., etc. Daily exposure to equipment, traffic, loud noises, and seasonal weather conditions.
