Job description

There is an opening for a Buyer in the Purchasing Department for Ellwood National Forge (ENF) in Irvine, PA. The position will report to the Director of Purchasing. Responsibilities include but are not limited to those detailed below:
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • Receive requisitions: analyze for quality, specification, delivery and general completeness. Develop competitive sources, seek pricing and delivery, select supplier and place order.
  • Conduct quarterly reviews of supplier/subcontractor on-time and quality performance to support ENF supplier performance rating policy requirements.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally and establish solid business relationships with suppliers and co-workers.
  • Review orders for completeness, accuracy and compliance with ENF policies and procedures and ensure all purchasing procedures and guidelines are followed.
  • Interview MRO suppliers and evaluate their products and capabilities as a supplier to ENF.
  • Demonstrate continual effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround time, reduce inventories, streamline work processes and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality internal customer service.
  • Research and follow-up on questionable invoices and packing slips when assistance is requested by Accounting Department. Communicate any supplier MRO order discrepancies and work to resolve with necessary parties.
  • Work to quickly resolve all supplier problems, control further processing and delivery of nonconforming product until the deficiency is corrected.
  • Performs other duties as deemed necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably Business Administration, OR 10 years purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and negotiating skills
  • Must be a results oriented "self-starter."
  • Must be well organized and detail oriented
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
