Job description

After-Hours Advocate - Part-Time | Evening, Overnight, and Weekend Shifts
At CAPSA, we are working toward a world with empowered survivors, safe homes, and children living without fear. Every day, our team shows up with courage and compassion to support survivors of domestic violence, sexual abuse, and rape in Cache County, Franklin County, and the Bear Lake area.
As an After-Hours Advocate, you will be a critical part of our team-often the first person a survivor speaks to when they reach out for help. You'll provide shelter support, crisis line coverage, and compassionate interaction with residents after our regular business hours.
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who brings calm to chaos. Someone who is reliable and empathetic, and who understands that being present-really present-with someone in crisis can be life-changing.
The ideal candidate is:
  • Able to stay grounded and make clear decisions in high-stress situations
  • Comfortable working independently, while staying connected to a supportive team
  • Organized and able to follow through on details, including documentation and safety protocols
  • Ready to jump in where needed-whether it's preparing a room, listening to a resident, or coordinating with other advocates

This role requires flexibility, empathy, and a strong sense of responsibility. Previous experience in crisis response, social services, or advocacy is helpful, but not required-we'll provide the training you need to succeed.
Key Responsibilities
  • Answer CAPSA's crisis line and document calls in our tracking system
  • Assist with shelter check-ins and check-outs, including preparing rooms and conducting exit procedures
  • Help maintain a safe, welcoming environment for shelter residents
  • Interact with residents with compassion and professionalism, helping to mediate concerns as they arise
  • Participate in monthly team meetings, CAPSA's 40-hour core advocacy training, and ongoing education

Shifts Available We are currently hiring for part-time After-Hours Advocates to cover evening shifts from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and overnight shifts from 11:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. These shifts may include weekends and holidays, shared across the After-Hours team.
Why CAPSA?
At CAPSA, we operate with a learner's mindset. You'll receive training in trauma-informed care, domestic violence, and sexual assault advocacy, and you'll have the support of a team that truly cares-for each other and for our clients.
This is not just a job-it's an opportunity to show up for people when they need it most. If that sounds like something you're ready to do, we'd love to hear from you.
