POSITION PURPOSE:
The Manager, Sales provides leadership, direction and support to the Sales organization within their respective business unit. Responsible for the daily activity of Account Managers to achieve the business unit sales expectations, while ensuring the retention of existing customers and adding new customers. Ensures all Briggs Industrial Solutions standards are adhered to and executed consistent with company direction.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Lead the business unit objectives for sales and profit performance, to include driving top line sales, market share and bottom line profit
2. Provide leadership, coaching and guidance to sales team, while fostering a culture of accountability, professional development, high-performance and ethical behavior
3. Monitor, manage and direct supervision of Account Managers to include responsibility for selection, hiring, development, training, performance management and new hire procedures
4. Ensure execution on monthly expectations and standards, strategies and action items, to include use of the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool, execution of sales opportunities and safety procedures
5. Manage payroll, productivity and staffing in region/branch against established performance expectations and objectives
6. Lead bench strength planning in order to achieve and maintain sales growth requirements
7. Ensure execution of all people-related initiatives i.e., training, compensation approvals, performance management process, recognition & fostering positive morale
8. Manage and coordinate all requests received from other sales areas, branches, corporate, etc.
9. Partner with cross functional partners (Human Resources, Finance, Technology, etc.) to ensure assigned locations are in alignment with the company in all process and direction
10. Perform other related duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Basic Knowledge & Competencies:
• Excellent time management skills to include prioritization of tasks, communication, execution to meet established deadlines
• Excellent customer service, communication and multi-tasking skills
• Strong leadership and people development skills
• Strong financial acumen, including capital buying process, cognitive skills, problem analysis, decision making and quantitative analysis
• Ability to assess customer patterns and adjust labor and branch focus accordingly
• Thorough knowledge of all systems, procedures, techniques, equipment, operations, standards and reports that apply to the sales process
• Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel
Previous Experience/Education:
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required
• 7+ years' experience in roles with increasing responsibility preferred
• 3+ years' experience leading a Sales team of 4+ Account Managers preferred
• 3+ years' experience leading in a multi-unit work environment preferred
• Analytical decision making preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Standing, walking, lifting, twisting and bending on a frequent basis
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
