Job Summary

Summary
Responsible for designing, developing and providing safety testing, repair, and maintenance of biomedical equipment. Also ensures that the biomedical equipment is in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and quality control standards. This senior-level Clinical Engineering role serves as the Perioperative Team Lead for Mass General Brigham (MGB).
Essential Functions:
-Participates in all phases of capital equipment purchases including clinical needs determination and budgeting, market survey and evaluation, and introduction of devices into clinical areas.
-Mentors and trains others biomedical engineers.
-Leads large-scale projects across an entity.
-Approves new equipment by conducting tests, ensuring adherence to codes and making modifications.
-Installs new equipment by establishing, adjusting, calibrating and testing performance.
-Directs biomedical equipment operation by providing equipment operation demonstrations, instructing other healthcare staff in use and care of equipment and answering questions.
-Improves equipment performance by studying machine-patient interaction, conferring with equipment users, developing modifications, and collaborating with manufacturers.
-Maintains supplies inventory by checking stock, anticipating needs, placing and expediting orders, and verifying receipt.
- Provide expert guidance to Periop Clinical Engineers, including recommendations on technical and workflow decisions.
-First point of technical escalation of the team. Technical onboarding and mentoring of team members.
-Serves on and may lead internal and/or external hospital committees and working groups.
-Contributes to preparation of capital and/or operational budgets-periop specific.
-Performs and/lead Q&S initiatives within the AMC Periop Environments.
-Expected to spend at least one day/week at both AMCs to maintain close. working leadership with local BME periop and periop/procedural admin teams.
