Job Brief
Traffic Control Permit Specialist position encompasses: Permit application processing and Traffic Control plan design. AutoCAD experience is preferred.
We are looking for a remote Traffic Control Plan (TCP) Permit Specialist to join our team!
The TCP Permit Specialist position encompasses:
  • Permit application processing using the engineers provided work prints and work descriptions
  • Traffic Control plan design based on the engineers proposed work and the municipalities requirements. we are looking for a creative, collaborative, confident drafter that is interested in learning traffic control design. If you are comfortable using AutoCAD basics, willing to learn, then we are willing to train.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Perform research to determine proper traffic control plans for each unique project.
  • Analyze current designs and make modifications to facilitate needs of the customer
  • Prepare and maintain new or replacement business permit drawings
  • Research and map databases using Google Earth, GIS, County Maps, etc.

Skills/Experience Required:
  • Must be organized, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines
  • Work in a professional manner - independently and collaboratively, within a team environment
  • Good command of the English language
  • Good written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Understand and follow instructions as given
  • Ability to prioritize, handle multiple drafting projects with a strong attention to detail
  • Strong computer skills with experience using Microsoft Office Suite

Skills/Experience Desired:
  • AutoCAD experience is strongly desired
  • Public Works and Civil drafting experience preferred
  • Familiar with Reading Civil Plans and Blueprints
  • Telecom drafting experience
  • A thorough understanding/experience in the Outside Plant telecom industry, public right-of-way, private easements, existing utilities such as water, sewer, electric, gas, and other underground and aerial utilities
  • Knowledgeable in city, county, state and local municipalities encroachment permits, Traffic Control and specialty permits, easement right away and various environmental permits
  • Must be able to interact with the local municipalities, Telecom engineers and construction/maintenance personnel to acquire OSP Records, ICGS, Assessor Maps, map info, AIS and Construction Prints
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, base-mapping, GIS, and layering
  • Fundamental knowledge of Outside Plant, conduit and cable design for copper, fiber optics, manholes, hand holes, Make-Ready Engineering, and poles (aerial and underground)

Education/Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED) required OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant work experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the essential duties of the position
  • Two years AutoCAD experience, desired
  • Requires passing Background Check

Physical Requirements:
  • Alternate sitting and standing at will (sit/stand desk)
  • Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Requires viewing a computer screen for long periods of time.
  • May lift or carry small parcels, packages, and other items.
