Job description

As the Executive Director, Institutional Sales, Public Funds, you will lead business development and relationship management across public pensions and retirement systems institutions.  You will be responsible for driving asset growth and retention of assets across a broad platform of traditional and alternative investment capabilities while serving as a trusted advisor to clients in the Western Region.  You will report directly to the head of public funds and you will also be responsible for collaborating with other internal colleagues focused on DC, ETF sales, and Consultants.

Job Responsibilities

  • Originate and close new business with public pension plans and retirement systems
  • Drive engagement and sales across alternative (private equity, private credits, real assets, hedge funds) and traditional strategies (equities, fixed income, and multi-asset)
  • Build and deepen relationships with CIO's, investment staff, and field consultants
  • Act as primary point of contact for key public fund clients and prospects
  • Maintain and deliver public fund expertise, market insights, asset allocation knowledge, and articulate key JPMorgan strategies and initiatives
  • Coordinate with internal partners, including: Defined Contribution, ETF, Consultant Relations, and other lines of business
  • Partner with Investment Specialists and Portfolio Managers to position solutions effectively
  • Mentor junior sales professionals and contribute to team culture
  • Provide feedback to product strategy and leadership to develop new capabilities based on client needs and market demand
  • Collaborate across distribution, marketing, and investment teams  

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills 

  • Existing relationships with public pension plans and consultants
  • Demonstrated success raising assets across both alternative and traditional strategies
  • Strong understanding of asset allocation and portfolio construction
  • Proven track record of developing key internal and external partnerships with sales teams and individuals
  • Highly motivated, with the ability to work independently
  • Team-oriented mindset
  • Excellent presentation, negotiation, and verbal communication skills
  • High degree of credibility with senior investors.
  • Travel is required
