What is the difference between Arts Based Research vs Art Therapist?
| Aspect | Arts Based Research | Art Therapist |
|---|---|---|
| Credentials | Typically requires a master's or doctoral degree in arts, research, or related fields | Requires a master's degree in art therapy or counseling, and certification/license |
| Work Environment | Academic, research institutions, community projects | Healthcare settings, mental health clinics, schools |
| Industry Usage | Used in academia, research, and arts organizations | Used in mental health, rehabilitation, and educational settings |
Arts Based Research focuses on using artistic methods to explore and analyze topics within academic or community contexts, often involving data collection and analysis. Art Therapists utilize art as a therapeutic tool to support mental health and emotional well-being. While both roles involve art, Arts Based Research emphasizes inquiry and knowledge creation, whereas Art Therapy centers on healing and therapy.
