Job description

Job Summary
EP Breaux Utility Services is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Aluminum Pipe Welder with experience in utility and substation environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for fabricating and welding aluminum conduit, bus pipe, and associated components for high-voltage substation projects while ensuring compliance with specifications and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform aluminum welding using techniques including TIG (GTAW) and MIG (GMAW) to fabricate, assemble, and repair utility infrastructure components
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly of components
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Identify and mitigate potential hazards to maintain a safe working environment
  • Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet quality and safety standards
  • Make necessary adjustments or repairs to meet required specifications
  • Prepare aluminum materials for welding by cleaning, cutting, and shaping according to project requirements
  • Maintain welding equipment and tools to ensure they remain in proper working condition
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment and report any issues to supervisors
  • Work closely with engineers, fabricators, and supervisors to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget

Qualifications

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in aluminum welding, preferably in a utility, electrical, or construction environment

Certifications

  • Journeyman Lineman certification preferred
  • Relevant safety certifications such as OSHA 30 preferred
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred

Skills

  • Proficiency in TIG (GTAW) and MIG (GMAW) welding techniques
  • Strong understanding of aluminum materials and welding best practices
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift heavy materials and equipment
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and construction environments
