Job description

Job Overview

Fairview is looking for an Advanced Life Support Instructor for various hospitals & locations within MN.

Schedule: This role is .01 FTE, casual. Hours vary depending on class length and schedule.

Responsibilities:

To conduct advanced life support initial and/or renewal classes such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Pediatric Emergency Assessment Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) and/or Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) for residents, physicians, employees, and participants from outside the organization. To maintain required certification and keep current on guidelines as published by the American Heart Association (AHA), American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and/or the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA).

  • This position will teach system advanced life support classes for Fairview employees across the Fairview Health System, and for outside participants to maintain certifications in accordance with published AHA, AAP, and/or ENA instructor content and guidelines.
  • Responsible for the instruction and testing of multi-disciplinary staff’s knowledge and skills as it relates to required curriculum.
  • Prepares materials and completes necessary documentation for staff attending and completing classes as required by the course coordinator and/or supporting organizational guidelines.
  • Cleans, maintains and transports equipment utilized for training as needed.
  • Presents, facilitates, and evaluates psycho-motor skill stations according to the current edition of the Provider and Instructor Manuals.
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining a welcoming, encouraging, and professional learning environment.


Required Qualifications:

  • Current or previous healthcare provider experience
  • Within six months of employment in the position, must obtain the certification that correlates with the course(s) the instructor provides. Course and required certification: • ACLS: AHA ACLS Instructor/Provider Card • PALS/PEARS: AHA PALS Instructor/Provider Card • NRP: AAP NRP Instructor Card • ENPC: ENA ENPC Certificate • TNCC: ENA TNCC Certificate
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross) AHA Basic Life Support Instructor or Instructor Trainer

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years Healthcare and instructional experience
