Accounts Payable (AP) refers to the amount of money a company owes to its suppliers or vendors for goods and services received but not yet paid for. The AP department is responsible for processing invoices, ensuring payments are made on time, and maintaining accurate records of all transactions. Proper management of accounts payable helps maintain good relationships with vendors and supports the company’s cash flow and financial health.

Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle, and sometimes certification like Certified Accounts Payable Professional (CAPP), is commonly required. Excellent organizational skills, time management, and clear communication help AP professionals effectively manage vendor relationships and resolve discrepancies.
