Convertro is the leading provider of marketing optimization and media attribution software as a service for today’s top brands and agencies. We’re seeking a DBA with experience building large-scale analytical systems in Vertica or other columnar, MPP databases. You will help implement our next generation analytics platform by designing and tuning of our Vertica data warehouse while working closely with our engineering team to improve performance, monitor operations, and make our analytics sing.


JOB ROLES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administer, maintain, and monitor production and development database clusters
  • Deploy, upgrade and configure new database clusters on AWS
  • Coordinate database migrations with developers and other stakeholders
  • Proactively respond to issues on production machines -- you will be responsible for ensuring database availability 24/7
  • Identify opportunities to optimize performance, maximize concurrency, and minimize system load
  • Assist with schema design and development of ETL processes

REQUIRED SKILLSET

  • Expert in SQL, especially VSQL or Postgres, including analytical functions
  • Expert in administering Vertica or similar column-oriented database (Netezza, Greenplum, Aster, etc)
  • Strong experienced with schema design for big data warehousing applications
  • Strong experienced with database partitioning, projections/indexes and segmentation of data
  • Documentation of processes and procedures
  • Database troubleshooting and disaster recovery
  • Strong desire to learn and critically evaluate new technologies
  • Heavy Linux background
  • Fluent in programming languages such as Java, C++, C, or scripting languages like Perl, Python, shell

What do we do? Convertro is a marketing technology company that provides today's leading brands and agencies with a SaaS marketing optimization platform and results engine that tracks and calculates the ROI of every marketing touchpoint across all media, including online (web, social, email, display, affiliate, CSE, etc.) and offline channels (broadcast television, radio, call center, print, direct mail, in-store, etc.). We then take a very results-based approach to optimization, programmatically making very granular and specific recommendations to our clients on how to improve their results. Simply put, Convertro allows users to move money from inefficient and fraudulent marketing sources to profitable ones, dramatically improving their bottom line.

How do we do it? Using numerous patent-pending technologies and remaining fully compliant with privacy and security regulations, Convertro's Customer Path Attribution tracks and measures the full path of customer interactions leading to a conversion, even across multiple devices and throughout the entire lifetime of a customer. We then credit each interaction for the role it played in that conversion (introducing, influencing, closing, etc.). Using this data and advanced regression and predictive modeling, we can programmatically surface insights and recommendations to optimize all aspects of a client's marketing, and track those recommendations and their results to further improve our system. This is a Big Data solution that uses the latest technologies and pushes the envelope of data storage and computing power. At Convertro, we've moved beyond data-driven marketing to marketing based purely on results.
